\nIn her first game at the Malaysian Open, B\u00fcy\u00fckak\u00e7ay was winning 5-3 against her world 83rd rival Kimiko Date-Krumm when her opponent withdrew due to injury. This was the first time in her career B\u00fcy\u00fckak\u00e7ay went to the second round in the qualified group of a WTA tournament. In this round, B\u00fcy\u00fckak\u00e7ay came up against Slovenian player Tadeja Majeric.

The national player who ended the game by a backhand strike to the line won 6-4, 6-4 at the end of an hour and forty minutes of play and knocked her Slovenian rival out of the tournament.
