20-year old successful club put thrower Emel Dereli has made sports history with the Turkey U23 Record she set in İzmir with a 18.34 metre throw.
The rising star of Turkish athletics, Emel Dereli, has made history in her first open field performance of 2016. The 20-year old has broken the only record she did not hold in the put throw and earned the title of the first Turkish athlete to old all records possible in a branch. At the trial competition held as part of the Nurullah İvak Atmalar Cup in İzmir on May 1st, Dereli threw 18.34 metres and set her first open field record this year. This broke the 13-year old record of 17.16 belonging to Filiz Kadoğan. Dereli set the only record which she had not so far to make history. Constantly breaking records in all age groups since she was 15, Dereli now holds all nine records kept for the open field and indoors in the put throw.

DERELİ TO COMPETE IN DOHA
Emel Dereli, who is targeting a medal in the European Championship to be held in Amsterdam this year will be in Doha on Friday for the second open field meet of the year. Dereli, who will throw shots in the Diamond League for the first time in her career is second to Anita Marton in the 2016 European listing after her 18.34 metre performance in Izmir.
