POOL

The Pool Section provides facilities for more than 500 young athletes, as well as to our members in the swimming and water polo sections with an olympic open swimming pool that is closed with an inflatable cover during the winter months, a semi-olympic indoor swimming pool and a new indoor swimming pool of 25 x 33 m. It became operative for athletes and members from the beginning of 2005, as the first heated olympic-sized swimming pool in the country to have an inflatable. Swimming and aqua-fitness courses are also given in the pool section.

FOR THE ATTENTION OF SWIMMING POOL MEMBERS, TRAINERS, ATHLETES AND PARENTS

The ph and chlorine values of the pools are automatically adjusted in compliance with international standards, so that the 25-meter indoor and 50-meter pool with an inflatable cover, as well as the new 25 x 33 meter indoor pool of the Enka Sports Club, continually provide a hygienic environment. Furthermore, the pools are being cleaned and controlled with regular settling and shocking, daily backwash and the cleaning the pool bottom. The Istanbul Regional Hygiene Directorate also makes a chemical analysis of the pool water once every 15 days.

In order to modernize our pools even further, we are planning to renew the ceramic tiling within this year and carry out disinfection of the pool water with a chlorozone system. All these are to provide a even more suitable environment for our swimmers, assuming that the rules are followed. Otherwise, failure to do so could result in illness. The most serious of these diseases are: fungal infections, asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease – emphysema, chronic bronchitis). As you know, fungal infections are contagious and have to be disinfected. Asthma and COPD are diseases that develop as a result of the synthesis of chlorine with other organic substances. Organic substances, such as epithelium, urea and perspiration, could interact with the chlorine and become harmful chemical substances.

Due to the reasons mentioned above, it is absolutely essential to abide by the swimming pool rules.
