In the Davis Cup, the world cup of tennis, where our athletes Cem İlkel, Altuğ Çelikbilek and Sarp Ağabigün represented our country, Turkey played away against New Zealand in the World Group I-Play-Off series.
While the score was 1-1 in the Turkey – New Zealand series, in the third match, our athlete Altuğ Çelikbilek and his partner Ergi Kirkin beat Marcus Daniell/Fin Reynolds couple 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, taking Turkey 2-1 ahead.
In the fourth match of the series and the most critical match for Turkey, our athlete Altuğ Çelikbilek beat Ajeet Rai 6-3, 6-2, taking Turkey 3-1 ahead against New Zealand and achieving an important success in our country’s promotion to World Group I.
