The Turkish national team came in fifth place at the European Athletics Championship held in Helsinki on June 27th-July 1st 2012. In 10,000 metre men’s, club athlete Polat Kemboi Arıkan timed in at 28:22.27, becoming European champion, while he also won bronze in 5000 metre with 13:32.63 time. In the 3000 metre hurdles, club athlete Tarık Langat Akdağ timed in at 8:35.24 to win silver.
