In the Billie Jean King Cup of women’s tennis World Cup held in Antalya on April 10-15, 2023, our national teams, including our athletes Çağla Büyükakçay, İpek Öz and Zeynep Sönmez, faced off against Latvia, Hungary, Netherlands and Egypt in Group A. .
Group B included Serbia, Sweden, Croatia, Bulgaria, Denmark and Norway.
Turkey became the winner of the Billie Jean King Cup Türkiye-Egypt series with 2-1.
In the first match of the Billie Jean King Cup Turkey-Egypt series, our athlete Çağla Büyükakçay defeated her Egyptian rival Merna Refaat 6-3, 6-1, bringing Turkey 1-0 ahead in the series! In the second match, Sandra Samir beat our athlete İpek Öz 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, bringing the series to 1-1. In the last match of the series, İpek Öz/Berfu Cengiz pair defeated Sandra Samir/Rana Şerif Ahmed 6-2, 7-6 to win.

Türkiye became the winner of the Billie Jean King Cup Turkey-Hungary series with a score of 2-1.
In the first match of the Billie Jean King Cup Turkey-Hungary series, our athlete Zeynep Sönmez defeated world number 95 Dalma Galfi 6-3, 6-4 and carried Turkey 1-0 forward against Hungary. By winning this match, Zeynep also defeated an opponent in the top 100 for the first time in her career.
In the second match of the series, Anna Bondar defeated İpek Öz 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, bringing the situation to 1-1 in the series.
Our double team consisting of our athlete İpek Öz and our national tennis player Berfu Cengiz defeated Anna Bondar/Dalma Galfi 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 and defeated Hungary 2-1 in the series.


The winner of the Türkiye – Latvia series was Türkiye with 3-0.
In the Billie Jean King Cup Turkey-Latvia series, our athlete Çağla Büyükakçay defeated her opponent 7-6 6-3 and took Turkey 1-0 ahead against Latvia.
In the second singles match of the day, our athlete İpek Öz defeated Diana Marcinkevica 6-1, 6-2, bringing the situation to 2-0 in the series.
İpek Öz/Berfu Cengiz duo defeated Adelina Lachinova/Beatrise Zeltina 6-0, 6-1, and the Billie Jean King Cup Turkey-Latvia series ended with 3 wins.


In the matches where the A and B group winners in Europe/Africa Group I will directly advance to the play-offs and the group runners-up will face for the third place, our national teams, who were only defeated by the Netherlands 2-1, will be the 2nd in Group A with an average and therefore the play-offs. They narrowly missed it.
Playing for the 5-6th place against Bulgaria for the ranking in Europe/Africa Group I, our National Team lost 3-0 to Bulgaria.
Our National Team maintained its place in Europe/Africa Group I with their victories and finished the group in 6th place.
