The 24th edition of European Cross Country Championships, our athletes Yasemin Can and Kaan Kigen Özbilen became Champion and in addition to this our National Team won 7 medals, 3 of these are individual and 4 of these belong the teams, reaching the highest number of medals ever.

The 24th edition of European Cross Country Championships organized with the participation of 37 countries in Samorin, Slovakia. Our athlete Yasemin Can retained her title as European Champion in 2017 after 2016. Yasemin finished in the first place with 26:48m., making 15 seconds difference to the second Swedish Meraf Bahta. Our national team, (our athlete Yasemin Can -1st-, Özlem Kaya -26th-, Esma Aydemir -27th- and our athlete Meryem Akdağ-33rd-) finished third position behind the British and Romanian teams in the team rankings with 54 points. 

In senior men’s, our athlete Kaan Kigen was champion in front of Spanish Adel Mechaal and British Andrew Butchardt.  In addition to Kaan’s first place, Aras Kaya was 7th, and our other representative Polat Arıkan was 9th, Turkey scored 17 points from Spain (20 points) in the race and reached the summit of Europe.
