At the ITF Junior Grade 1 tournament held in Malaysia, club player İpek Soylu (b. 1996) beat her British rival Katie Boulter 6-7(9) 6-2 6-1 to win the tournament. Soylu became the first Turkish tennis player to win the ITF Junior Grade 1.
Soylu has previously entered the first 16 in the Grade A (Grand Slam) tournaments (Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open). Thanks to her rising performance, İpek brought the first cup from Grade-1 tournaments home to Turkey.
