The 32nd Summer Olympic Games, which took place between 23 July and 8 August 2021 in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, ended with the closing ceremony held yesterday. While the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were the Games where we won the most medals in our Olympic history, the athletes of our club experienced the pride of representing our country!
From our athletes;
– Yasemin Adar being one of the 5 women who won an Olympic medal for our country in Tokyo 2020 and winning the first Olympic medal for women in Turkish Wrestling history,
– Necati Er finished 6th in the triple jump, 73 years after Ruhi Sarıalp, by making the final,
– Yasmani Copello Escobar’s 6th place equaling the Turkish record in the 400m Hurdle,
– Turkey record holder, hammer thrower Eşref Apak, who participated in the Olympics for the 5th time, rose to the Olympic final for the second time after 17 years and entered the History of Turkish Athletics,
– Yasemin Can, being 8th in the 5000 meters and thus being the first Turkish athlete to score in Turkey by coming to the finish line in the top 8 three times in the Olympic Games,
–Meryem Bekmez, placing 22nd in the 20km Walk, achieving the best result of the Turkish Team so far in this branch
and the representation of our country by a total of 21 athletes in 3 branches made us proud.
At the Closing Ceremony held at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium on Sunday, August 8, our Olympic Champion boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli carried the Turkish Flag. At the ceremony where spectacular light and dance shows were held, the Olympic Flag was handed over to Paris, which will host the next Olympic Games in 2024.
Tokyo 2020, after the London 1948 Olympic Games, in which our country won the most medals with 12 medals, became the Olympic Games with the highest number of medals with 13 medals and the highest participation in sports branches.
Now is the time to prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games!
